Located in the North Tabor neighborhood, Big's Chicken is a new venture from four local chefs with a deep love for chicken.


Big's Chicken opened in April 2017. Chef Ben Bettinger, also the head chef at Laurelhurst Market, runs the kitchen. You may remember him as the winner of the Food Network's Chopped (season 22), but don't be fooled: Big's is a restaurant for everyone. You won't find fancy foodie talk here—we're all about great food and a welcoming atmosphere, creating a space where everyone can enjoy themselves.

At Big's Chicken, our specialty is Alabama-style chicken that's smoked, then slathered in a white barbecue sauce that we like to call "white gold." We like to think the perfectly crisped chicken is best enjoyed alongside our house-made coleslaw and signature Jo-Jos—and we have a feeling you'll agree.

We are also proud owners of Laurelhurst Market, Ate-oh-Ate, Reverend's BBQ, and Simpatica Dining Hall. If you know our restaurants, you know our commitment to quality, flavor, and friendly service.
